Brake problems sometimes occur with prior warning signs.  They can include, metalic grinding noises or the vehicle may pull to the left or to the right hand sides.  A grinding noise, could mean that the brake friction material has worn below the limits ie: metal to metal.  When this occurs, damage will be added to your brake discs and braking safety and performance will be at a danger level.

Pulling to the left or right hand side, could indicate sticking hydraulic parts, wheel cylinders etc.  A rising and falling motion from the brake pedal may be felt or a spongy feeling when the brakes applied.  The rise and fall would indicate that, there could be brake disc distortion and a spongy feeling in the pedal would indicate, air in the hydraulic system.

Braking systems should be serviced on a regular basis, to maintain a high standard of braking efficiency and effectiveness.  The system must be operating at optimum levels at all times.

Chorley Street Garage can provide a full inspection of your braking system, to the highest safety levels   A full inspection covers, the areas listed below.

Worn shock absorbers can be dangerous.  Shock absorbers keep the tyres in contact with the road and provide a cushion from the road impact.  They help to stop excessive rebound, reduce sway and improve handling of the vehicle when braking, cornering or driving on rough roads.

Shock absorbers damp the travel and the extension of the vehicles springs, to stop continious bouncing.

If the front of your vehicle dips, when you apply your brakes or handles poor in high side winds, you may have faulty shock absorbers.

At Chorley Street Garage, we can check the condition of your shock absorbers, for your continued safety.  Advise you on any problem areas, on your suspension, drive shafts and steering components.  If you have recently noticed any changes, in the handling of your vehicle, please call in, at any time and we will examine your vehicle, to the required safety levels, free of charge.  We also, upgrade handling with competition steering and suspension, for the more performance minded car owners.  Contact us on 01204-521850, for more advice or information.
